Two waterfall raglan dresses in modal knit.

She asked for matching dresses, how could I refuse? Give it a few more years and the thought of "twinning" with mum will most likely make her shiver with horror, so for now, I'll make the most of it! I'm not big on ruffles and frills (neither is my daughter) but when I saw the waterfall raglan dresses popping up on Instagram, it was promptly added to my "must sew" list. This pattern by Chalk and Notch conveniently comes in a kid's and adult size so picking a pattern was easy. Plus it's a quick sew, and this wide dress would...

When I was choosing the fabric I would use, it didn’t take me long to settle on Blossom Night Fabric by Atelier Brunette. It is 100% high-quality viscose and has a lovely drape so I knew it would be perfect for a Megan Neilsen Dove Blouse.  I have made this blouse before and have worn it a lot and have wanted to make another for a long...

The Year of the Sleeve

Hello, I'm Kate of Sewing with Kate and today I am guest blogging here for MaaiDesign.  Did you know, this year has been deemed, 'The Year of the Sleeve’?  There has been some amazingly inspirational pieces on Instagram this year, especially in our sewing community.  The Year of the Sleeve was initially instigated by Ryliss Bod of the Sewing and Design School in Washington. She started collecting and posting some sleeve designs earlier this year. Here are some of my favourites, all massively OTT and wonderful. With sleeve inspiration in abundance, I thought this could be a good opportunity to show how to...
