MaaiDesign x Winding Road Design Studio Collaboration II
The first Mountain collection was such a great success, so of course we had to come back for round two!
We again collaborated with local artist, Alicia, from Winding Road Design Studios to transform her incredible designs into fabric!
Alicia is based in Tawonga at the base of Mt Bogong and draws much of her inspiration from her local environment. In northeast Victoria, we enjoy a unique mix of Australian native bush and deciduous trees, which are cleverly interpreted into her art.
To prepare and test the fabric, Maaike and the team have been sewing up a storm which will also help you get a sense of quality and scale in these designs. We hope these garments give you inspiration for your own makes.
This collection again includes cotton jersey and the fine cotton poplin, but we've added linen as well this time.
To make it easy, we have collated a list of all the patterns we used for the photoshoot below:
Maven Barcelona Dress (Not lined)
fabric: Koi Linen
This is quite an easy and quick to sew dress with no lack of elegance. It's perfect for those that like a flared skirt.
Closet Core Kalle Shirt Dress

This shirt dress can be made as a shirt or a dress. It's a also an easy to sew pattern with fantastic detailed instructions.

Fringe Dress Hacked into a top (inspired by this Instagram post)
fabric: Zen Garden Black and White Linen
Ever since we spotted that great hack on Instagram we've been keen to copy it. This is basically the top of the dress with a split hem added.
This pattern is easy to sew and comes together quickly.
Sew House 7 - Remy Raglan
fabric: Gingko Clay linen
One of the quickest woven tops to sew out there. The Remy raglan is one of our most popular patterns as it is very beginner friendly, and comes with a few nice options too.
Closet Core Patterns Carolyn Pyjamas
fabric: Gingko cotton poplin in Pink
The Carolyn Pyjamas allows you to sew a very fancy pair of pjs. It is a bit more involved than most of the patterns in this list, but oh so rewarding. The pattern instructions are very detailed, like holding your hand every step of the way.
Tessuti Romy Top (with gathered skirt hack)
fabric: Koi Deep Teal and Gold
The bodice was shortened and a three piece gathered skirt was added to the bodice.
Skater Dress
fabric: Zen Garden cotton poplin Grecian Blue
The bodice was made using a pattern from an old sewing book and the circle skirt was self-drafted.
Chalk and Notch Pony Tank
fabric: Koi Grape Purple Cotton Jersey
This is the perfect comfy hot weather dress for knit fabrics.
Wardrobe by Me Wardrobe Builder Tee
fabric: Gingko Deep Teal Cotton Jersey
This pattern comes with so many options, you'll almost never need another knit sewing pattern again for t-shirts.
We hope you'll feel inspired by this new collection.
Can you tell we are big fans of bold large prints, vibrant colours, and of deep teal?
