The Solig Dress is a simple dress with a sleek silhouette, suitable for beginners as well as advanced sewists. View A features an elastic back and feels more secure around the bust than View B which has a slightly scooped gathered back with ties. Both views have a gently curved front neckline with side seam bust darts and thin straps. You can choose to make a maxi length version with or without side seam slits, or a mini version. The neckline is finished with a facing that covers your entire bust. The instructions will walk you through installing elastic in the facing hem to make it into a low support built-in-bralette, if you so choose.

VIEW A

  • Elastic back
  • Maxi length
  • French seamed side slits
  • Facing that can be turned into a low support bralette

VIEW B

  • Tie back
  • Center back seam
  • Mini length
  • Facing that can be turned into a low support bralette

Skill level: Advanced Beginner.

Sizing: 00 – 30 (Bust 31”-57” / 79-145cm, see sizing chart with the pictures below)
Choose your size mainly based on your bust measurement. This dress has a gathered back, so the size of your hip doesn’t matter as much.

Notions:

  • 1/2”(1.2 cm) wide elastic
  • Rat-tail cord OR loop turner for straps

PDF pattern includes:

  • Instruction File
  • A4/Letter print at home (Size 00-18, 29 Pages and All Sizes, 36 Pages)
  • A0/COPYSHOP
  • Projector file (View A and View B)

Fabric suggestions: This pattern is made for woven fabrics and the look of it will change a lot depending on the fabric you choose. A crepe will make it date night ready, whereas a linen or cotton will make it the perfect everyday summer dress. Other favourites include seersucker for ultimate coolness, cotton poplin for a crisp and billowy silhouette, or any rayon/tencel for a beautiful drape. If choosing a thicker fabric, like linen, you may want to use a matching, lighter weight fabric for the facing/bralette.
