ABOUT

Description

These work pants are designed for comfort and true function. The roomy legs, knee darts, close-fitting gusset, and a raised center back allow for an extreme range of movement. They can be sewn with a myriad of useful pockets and also include the option to add a hammer loop, reinforced knees, and a reinforced hem.

The instructions include many tips on fitting and working with heavy weight materials. Choose between a workwear version with double topstitching and details designed for heavy wear, or a stripped down version that would make excellent activewear trousers in lighter materials.

Skill level: Intermediate.

Sizing: 0 – 18

Fabric suggestions:

Main: For casual everyday wear, choose trouser weight wovens (light to medium weight) such as twill, denim, canvas, and gabardine. Alternatively, use materials suited to the intended use of the pants. For example, for hiking, mountain biking, or outdoor workwear pants, choose water-resistant cottons or synthetic blends designed for activewear (such as ripstop). The designer does not recommend using stretch fabric. If you wish to use a stretch fabric, you may need to size down.

Pocket lining: Broadcloth, quilting cotton or other strong, tightly woven cottons or cotton blends.
