Description

The Fell and Dale is a traditional style Flat Cap. There is also an option for adding elastic to the back, which makes the fit/sizing more flexible. The instructions give detailed directions for suitable fabric choices (and don’t let the idea of a peak/brim put you off, there are several alternatives including re-purposing a milk bottle!)

SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate.

SIZING: Ages from Newborn – XL Adult.

SUPPLIES:

Craft plastic – either 0.5mm or 0.8mm thickness

Interfacing – suitable for your chosen outer fabric

20-25mm Elastic (for elasticated back option): 10cm


RECOMMENDED FABRICS:
Main Fabric: Wool tweed and other wool blend fabrics are the best choice as they have the required weight and mould well around curves. Other outer fabric options include corduroy or denim (those with a little stretch will work best). A heavier linen could make a good summer hat choice if used with decent-weight interfacing.

Lining Fabric: Light woven fabric such as cotton poplin or quilting cotton.
