High-quality boiled wool knit.

This fabric is perfect if you'd like to sew clothes that are cosy and durable.  It's a knitted fabric with a slight bouclé effect.  It doesn't fray and it looks almost identical on both sides so it works well for unlined jackets.  

Suitable for: Jackets, Jumpers, Cardigans and Vests.

Colour: Maroon, Burgundy.

Fabric Composition: 100% boiled wool

Stretch: 30% cross-grain, 15% lengthwise

Be aware that if you choose to wash it will shrink a lot (up to 20% lengthwise).

Thick wool fabric

I was not so happy with this this purchase. I should have gotten a sample. It would be a good tunic if lined.

The colour of the boiled wool that I wanted was not available but I was able to leave a note asking that I be notified when it became available. I was notified and when I purchased the fabric it was sent promptly. Beautifully wrapped and a lovely little gift enclosed .

Boiled wool purchase

I'm so glad I bought this boiled wool almost as soon as I saw it. I must admit I have never considered it before, thinking it would be bulky and hard to sew. I was wrong , it was quite easy in spite of the thickness. I made a Daphne jacket from Vivian Shah Chen, a fantastic pattern. So I'm very pleased with the project and it was timely as the weather in Goulburn has been freezing so it's getting plenty of wear! Also I'm glad I didn't hesitate as the colour I liked - cobalt blue, sold out pretty quickly. If the other colours that also sold out came back, I would be tempted to buy some more. As always orders from MaaiDesign arrive quickly.
