When new See You At Six fabrics arrive at Maaidesign it pays to be quick.
I was lucky to score one of the last few remnants of this fabulous, floral French terry and had just enough to squeeze out a little sweater dress. (Butterick B6494)
A raglan sleeve dress pattern is a great way to use a smaller cut of fabric as the pattern pieces are shorter, and with this dress pattern having princess seams front and back, there were multiple small pieces to cut. It was only a moderately hard puzzle to fit it all on my fabric.
But ultimately it was made possible by the generous 150cm width of the See You At Six French terry.
I was also prepared to size down on my pattern and make it figure hugging as the French terry has such a lovely soft, stretchy, yet firm hand. This fabric would make a great loose, slouchy garment, but is equally at home being asked to hug curves while skimming underwear lines. That's a lot for a fabric to do, and kind of magic if you ask me!
It was the colours in the print that initially won me over. I've got every shade of autumn in my new sweater dress and it's so comfy and cosy that I can see myself wearing it all winter long as well. I must mention that the printing process itself is exceptional. There's no plastic-ky feel to the print and no loss at all of colour when the fabric is stretched. I'm a little bit in love with this dress.
With a new batch of See You At Six fabrics having just arrived in the Maaidesign shop, don't be like me and limit yourself to a remnant and a mini dress! Be quick and get yourself some real yardage :)
