The Spring Trousers are a voluminous and comfortable cut, designed to feel breezy and effortless. The cut features very wide legs with front pleats and a semi-elasticated back to keep the smart feeling while also allowing for a very comfortable wear.
The slanted side pockets are nice and deep and this pattern has a zip fly and has a double button waist fastening to work with the wide waistband. This trouser was originally intended for breezy summer wearing in linens or silks however it also works well as a bold winter cut.
Skill level: Intermediate.

Construction techniques: Zip fly construction with binding finishing, semi-elasticated waistband, side pockets with French seam finishing, front pleats, flat felled seams and hemming.
Fabric requirements:
150 cm wide fabric: Sizes 4 – 12, 230 cm // Sizes 14 – 20, 240 cm // Sizes 22 – 28, 250 cm.
110 cm wide fabric: Sizes 4 – 12, 230 cm // Sizes 14 – 20, 260 cm // Sizes 22 – 28, 325 cm.
Notions:
* 2 x buttons (roughly 1-1.5cm in diameter)
* 40cm of mid/light-weight iron on fusing
* 40cm x 100cm cotton pocketing fabric
* Binding - you can use shop-bought binding, or if you’d like to use the same fabric as your pockets, you’ll need a 70cm x 150cm strip of pocketing fabric.
* Thread in a colour of your choice
* Elastic (4/5cm wide) - see length below
* 16-18cm Zip
