Workshop - Sew a Warp Skirt Fitted To Your Unique Shape!
Join Tarryn for a full-day (1 day) workshop, dedicated to making a wrap skirt that actually fits your shape.
This isn't any sewing class, it's a dive into pattern fitting!
This workshop will run during The Great Sewing Weekend in Bright. This is an add-on, so you will still need a ticket to the sewing day(s) as well.
Choose your day: Saturday the 17th or Sunday the 18th of October.
You will learn:
- How to grade between sizes
- How to adjust darts to suit your shape
- How to lengthen and shorten the skirt correctly
- How to identify and adjust the pattern for your unique fitting needs - examples may include; prominent posterior, fuller tummy adjustment or resolving hem or hip discrepancies
- How draglines can help you to diagnose fitting issues in the toile stage
What you will walk away with:
- A completed muslin reflecting your personal fit adjustments
- The skills and confidence to apply these same adjustments to other patterns
- A finished wrap skirt ready for your spring/summer wardrobe, fitted beautifully to you
- A sneak peak into how fitting is taught inside our Modern Makers community!
What's Included:
- Skirt Pattern printed in A0 format.
- Calico for your toile
- Guidance from a trained pattern maker
What you will need to bring:
- Sewing Machine + pedal
- Main Fabric
- Interfacing
- French Curve & Grading Ruler (we will have spares if you don't have one but these are great tools for any sewer to have)

Workshop Details
- Full Day 9:30am - 4pm
- An intimate hand on class of maximum 8 participants.
- Suited for confident beginners who are familiar with their sewing machine.
About your teacher:
Tarryn completed her Advanced Diploma in fashion design and textiles in 2012, specialising in pattern making. She has been sewing since childhood is now part of the Maaidesign & Modern Makers team.
