Pinterest Link During that time Maaidesign started to stock Tencel Linen and that was definitely the fabric for me. Imagine a fabric that gives you everything you love about linen; the textural weave, the breathability, the structure. Now imagine the benefits of a lyocell fabric; the drape, the luscious, suede-like hand and soft sheen. Are the creeping niggles about those fabrics starting to come to mind?...

Tencel Denim is soft, drapes beautifully and is surprisingly light-weight. Knowing in advance how these properties affect decisions in the garment construction process will help ensure a pleasurable sewing experience.
This post uses the Palisade pants from Papercut Patterns as a test case to highlight the special properties of Tencel Denim, with tips for working with the fabric in the areas of; pattern testing, cutting, prepping (stablising), construction, and finishing.

Kylie from Kylie and The Machine made a beautiful dress for Melbourne Frocktails last year. If you haven't heard of Kylie, she is the creator of the very clever woven labels that are taking the sewing world by storm (now available in the MaaiDesign store here).
