ABOUT

Description

The Cara Top is a simple summer blouse that is flexible enough to wear in a floaty
muslin at the beach or in a smarter silk as part of a wedding two-piece. The cut features a square mandarin collar, small bust dart and a gentle a-line silhouette. It comes with 2 length options, shorter to sit right on the hip or a little longer to hit the
top of the thigh.

It is a simple piece to make, which means it’s a great project for beginners. However, this doesn’t mean we cut corners on the construction quality. You’ll be using French seam construction, and you’ll have the option of a double-fold hem or a flat binding to finish the hem and armholes.

Skill level: Beginner.

Sizing: Sizes 4 - 28 (with PDF Layers)

For Body Measurements & Finished Garment Measurements, click here.

Construction techniques: French seam, darts, collar, hemming or flat binding, button stands and buttons & buttonholes.

Fabric requirements:
150 cm wide fabric: Sizes 4 – 12, 95 cm // Sizes 14 – 20, 155 cm // Sizes 22 – 28, 160 cm.
110 cm wide fabric: Sizes 4 – 12, 150 cm // Sizes 14 – 20, 155 cm // Sizes 22 – 28, 160 cm.

Notions:

* 20cm of mid/light-weight iron on fusing
* Thread in a colour of your choice
* If you’re choosing the flat binding finishing technique, you will need an additional metre of fabric to cut your binding from. This can be the ‘self’ fabric or another piece of lightweight cotton.

Suitable fabrics:
- Cotton poplin/lawn
- Linen
- Silk
- Light woolen weave
- Flannel / brushed cotton
