I have been a huge fan of the patterns by Compagnie M for a while now. Marte - the designer - has a style that I just really love. Her designs are unique, modern while also a bit retro, just fabulous. Needless to say, I didn't have to think twice to be part of another pattern test for her. The previous one - for her culottes - was so much fun.
This test was for her Ileana dress, a dress with a circle or half circle skirt. I knew this one would be an instant hit with my daughter. "A skirt that flies up and down as you dance and turn around, yes please!"
This pattern has a lot of options! And that is no understatement, the variety of dresses you can make with this one pattern is fantastic. Just check out Compagnie M's blog to see what the other pattern testers created, it is a great source of inspiration.
Last weekend we had a lovely winter weekend in Sydney, the temperatures rose to a pleasant 20 degrees C. So my little monkey eagerly put on her new summer dress while I quickly tried to take some photos.
I combined two fabrics from Soft Cactus. The plain pastel green is the exact same colour as the green leaves in the print so the two worked perfectly together. I also used it to line the bodice of the dress.
I opted for the raglan sleeve version as I just LOVE the look of raglan sleeves and I added piping in the seams.
I added the triangular pockets, the shape is so cute. I wanted to repeat the green in a collar, but I could not convince my daughter on that one. A bit of a shame, since the pattern comes with several great looking collars. But overall a very versatile pattern, I will have to make a few more!
