15 Sewing Pattern For Your Kids' Winter Wardrobe

Do you love sewing for kids? Then let me share my favourite sewing patterns for children.  Winter has well and truly hit Australia, at least we are feeling the chill down here in the south of the country. So this list is focussed on those pieces you need to sew a whole winter wardrobe. All patterns listed here are by independent pattern designers, by mums who have turned their passion into designing sewing patterns for modern clothes. Given my background, you might spot a bit of a Belgian theme is this list. ;)    Tops/ T-shirts: 1. Waterfall Raglan This wonderful...

A super fast jersey dress in a border print fabric

I'm having a productive sewing week! I've decided I cannot start a new sewing project until I have finished all the ones that are in progress on my sewing table. These consist of things I promised myself I would fix. Those pants I was going to turn into shorts, a few sewing fails waiting to be rescued.... basically, the less exciting stuff. But, since I've made 5 to 6pm my dedicated sewing time, I have been finishing them off one by one. It feels great! The kids wear these pants pretty much every weekday, so it is comforting to know I made them something they love so much.  Happy kids, happy mum!   My daughter is slowly outgrowing the pink phase (hooray!!) and chose the bunnies, while our little man picked the cactus print. He has already put an order in for a matching top. Aren't they super cute!?  Both were finished off...

Suz from Sewpony had an idea: "Let's have some fun and share some sewing love!" She wanted to organise a little surprise for An from Straightgrain and asked a number of bloggers to take part. How could I say no? If you're an active follower of sewing blogs, then I'm sure you know An already.  Just like me, she is Belgian and I love her style.  Over the years she has been very active in bringing people virtually together to share their handmade creations while inspiring them through her blog. It is thanks to bloggers like her that "Belgian-style" is a...

Sewing with knits part 2: I sewed a top for my husband!

So this finally happened... I made a piece of clothing for my husband!  I even managed to convince him to pose in his new top. He turned out to be a lot more comfortable with modelling  than I am! I used the ribbed jersey from Zonen09 and  the adult version of the Billie pattern. This jersey is super soft and feels really lightweight while it has quite a bit of body (volume) to it. Here's a close up of this fabric in the Petrol/ Rust version: I cut the pattern piece for the front into 3 pieces and added seam allowance. Then I...
