Today I am joining the blog tour from Sewpony, the celebrate the launch of her latest sewing pattern: The Tic Tac Toe Dress.
It is another wonderful vintage inspired design and I love it.
I've been wanting to make a dress in this lovely Blowballs fabric from Soft Cactus for a while and now was the perfect opportunity.
As usual, the pattern comes with very detailed instructions, so it made for an easy and quick sew.
I opted for the V-shaped back and used contrasting bright yellow piping, because bright colours never hurt anyone.
I wanted to add an extra detail to find a way to repeat the yellow somehow.
I had spotted this tutorial from Compagnie M so I thought I'd give it ago. Making this flower is super quick and easy. And my girl loves it.
The dress did turn out a bit too wide. Entirely my fault! According to her measurements I should have made a size 6 with size 10 length. But I thought that was a bit extreme so I settled for a size 7, and lengthened it to a size 9. She is 8 and a half afterall... Should have known better and just trusted the pattern instructions (sorry Suz!) as I've made the same mistake in the past.
But she's happy, so I'm happy.
While the tour is on, you can get this pattern at a 10% discount, just use this code at checkout: TICTACTOE10
